I concur. PDF is the optimum format for transferring documents.
Portable Document Format ... it has become the de facto standard
in the electronics industry for a reason.
For those with an aversion to spending money when you don't have
to, you should know that you don't need Acrobat to produce PDF
files, you can use Ghostscript, a free Postscript/PDF
viewer/converter. The Ghostscript home page is at
http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/ where you can get the files
necessary to run on virtually any platform.
For those not familiar how this helps you make PDF files here is a
quick overview.
Print your document using a Postscript driver and save the output
to a file.
Open this file in the GUI front end for Ghostscript (GSview if you
are using Windoze). You can use the Ghostscript command line
but this is easier.
Print the file again to "pdfwrite" selecting resolution, 72 or 300 dpi.
You now have a PDF file.
For those who don't like PDF files because they are difficult to edit,
Ghostscript converts files to most graphics formats so you can edit
without fear of messing up the source.
So let's get rid of .gifs and especially .jpgs and use .pdf.
Having said all this ... the best way to view schematics is to have
the CAD source, and I am always happy to find Protel, Orcad,
Tango or PADs files.... This is a rather expensive option though.
