Depends on who you talk to.
If you use the little gold plated screw-machine sockets... don't use them
If you use sockets such as AMP Diplomate dual leaf sockets (tin-lead plating)
then do it. The very high retention force of these sockets gives a gas-tight
seal and
the wiping action as you plug them in is excellent. They are maybe $.06 - $.10
each. Well worth it IMHO. Its nice to have them as a troubleshooting aid...

things to put in your designs... like BBDs ??? )
