Exactly what I mean. But I would put them in whatever memory space making
them directly accessible by the controller instead of wiring them in long
& slow MIDI chains.

A must. There are just things which take tons of material in real hardware
but can be done so neatly in software - although the software solution
is not sexy at all :)
