Hi everyone, I am brand spanking new to this list, analogues in general, and
electronics, so I'm pretty durn unedemacated here. I would like to start
building my own analogue modular system, building the stuff I can, and
buying whatever is too hard for me for now. I've been searching the net and
the archives and have come across a number of DIY, and semi-DIY modular
things and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which were best.
This is perhaps a thread that has been done to death, but might be useful
again I hope?
My concerns are: good sound ( duh! ), rugged enough to play live ( and
preferably not huge ), compatibility with other modulars, possible for an
industrious beginner to build ( I do have more expert friends to hassle),
and of course the almighty dollar.
Can anyone tell me what they think of the following systems:
ASM-1
http://home.swipnet.se/cfmd/synths/friends/stopp/
( PCBs and plans )
Oakley Sound Systems http://www.oakleysound.com
( PCBs and plans, optional small
parts )
Electonics for Music http://www.ele4music.com/
( PCBs, plans, optional all parts )
Paia 9700 series http://www.paia.com
( PCBs, plans, parts )
MOTM http://www.synthtech.com/motm/
( complete modules that need
assembly )
Thanks so much for your help; I'm looking forward to participating on the
list.
Iain Duncan
