Welcome
And since you are new to the list (when you are here longer you will
know me by reputation... ;^) I'll give some free advise
I would avoid using BBDs for "cheap - easy" projects. If they are not
used with great skill, the overall effect is underwhelming. While it is
possible to get a half-way decent delay using the BBD... it is not a project
for the beginner.
Juergen Haible has some projects on his site, I believe its called "Storm
Tide
Flanger"... which uses BBDs. Check out that schematic and see if that looks
easy.
If you want a decent delay, buy a cheap Digital Delay and save your DIY time
for projects likely to be more successful...
I'd second the vote for PAiA as a source for simple projects. The FatMan
is a nice simple synth. (It uses linear VCO's which is a disadvantage if you
ask me...
so don't. Ask Scott Gravenhorst who has taken the FatMan to new heights.)
Some people like Electronics for Music (EFM) projects. These are not for the
complete beginner, beware. They are very cost effective. The BassAce or
MadMouse (if available) are entry level synths. EFM-synth is a Yahoo Group,
enquire there.
Blacet makes some nice modules, as do Oakley sound systems.
If you have $pending money, the MOTM (Synthtech.com) modules are
a spare no expense approach. I see them as made for middle age guys
(like me, or Larry Hendry :^) who drooled over big modular Moogs that cost
more than the houses we lived in. Now we can afford them, like others favor
sports cars...
We (mostly) don't do too many effects here (more synths...). but almost any
Audio DIY projects are fair game. I'd suggest a trip to www.geofex.com to
see what you can do in the guitar effect realm. A lot of those projects are
easy
enough that you could build them from scratch.
Hey did I miss anyone (hope not)
Anyway... take my advice... "BBDs SUCK"
H^) harry (the guy known for saying "BBD suger")
