[sdiy] Noise Idea I Want to Play With

I have this idea that I can't get out of my head, so I
guess I'll just have to try it. I thought I might lob
it here first, see what people think.
It's a PLL experiment that goes like this:
A 4046 based PLL that takes input from an external VCO
signal. The PLL has an adjustable loop filter. The loop
contains the sort of recirculating shift register circuit
one finds in a digital noise circuit (in the same place
where one would put a digital counter to form a frequency
multiplier). The shift register will be 24 bits to start
with.
Tonal noise? I dunno. (I know there are other ways to
make tonal noise.)
