Hmm.  Well, just as many have decried the use of the term "American"
for citizens of the United States of America, and even THAT is
slammed by Mexico, since they claim to have "united states" and
are one of the Americas.  I think some Europeans may take issue
with the Brits claiming sole ownership of things Royal.
In that respect, "The Royal Navy" is ambiguous and makes no
more sense than "American".  Hey, it says [OT]...

Now, back to planet Earth, erm or have I now offended the
non-Terran aliens?  Perhaps that will get them to finally
speak up!

BTW, Merriam-Webster's defintion of 'acronym' makes no
distinction about whether an acronym should make sense.
