[sdiy] Source of Pots

    This subject was more or less brought up by Terry a few days ago, I
believe...it is also a subject I am interrested in.

    Trying to find a source of good, inexpensive, panel mount pots seems
almost like an imposible dream.

    Now, in the Mouser catalog, I have found these:

    Bourns 3852 series 652-3852A-282-103A which are 5.83 (100's)
    Xicon 31VA401..........................................which are
0.87 (100's)

    And in Digkey I have found:

    Bourns 3852 series 3852A-282-103A which are 4.93 (100's)
    Bourns 50 series 53AAA-B28-B15      which are 4.58 (100's)
    CTS 450D103-1..................................which are 2.44
(100's)

    These are all single turn, 10K pots.

    Now, I have used Xicon pots in the past.  That 87 cent price is very
attractive.  Has anybody ever used any of the other pots, and do you
really get your moneys worth.  It would be a shame to pay 5 times more
for a pot that is not that much better than the Xicon.

    And does anybody else know of any pots supplier that does make a
resonable part at a reasonable price.

    I will probably just get one of each of the above to evaluate them,
anyway.  But picking pots has got to be one of the hardest things....
