   The problem with the us patent system, is that being awarded a 
   patent by the patent office is not the end of it.  the patent
   office does not make it illegal for someone to infringe on your
   patent, it allowes you to sue someone that does infringe on the
   patent.

This is actually a good thing.  You really would't want the patent
office to in the enforcement business.
