Amen brother...

Fuzzface input is common emitter amplifier with some feedback from
second stage without a base resistor, so the input impedance is very low
(kind of like running guitar pickup directly to inverting op-amp minus 
node without a resistor). This cuts out a lot of high-end which is
actually good in this case, as it removes a lot of harshness (less stuff
generating those overtones). According to Roger Mayer (who designed the
original fuzzface) this was intentional.
