this happened to my casio mt-240 too! it was just a soldering job
too, but gave me motivation to dig into it further and install some
dip-switch-controlled circuit bends... (this was a couple of years ago,
admittedly it is not that useful in recording)
off that topic, though, i rigged up the second and third
XR2209-based LFO from a small pile of those chips i got a while back; it
is quite simple to make a VCLFO out of these!! i used a dual opamp and
some of the ideas from the Polyphony article on the XR2209 LFO (i put it
up on the net if anyone is interested: supa.corrupt.net/lfo1.gif and
lfo2.gif) for this.
of course as soon as i tested them out, i hooked them together and
marveled at the sight of one triangle wave fm'ing another (it looks like a
bouncing spring)
next up on the bench: a VCA and LFO module from oakley synths. i
just got the kit today in the mail-- thanks tony! :)
