Alex,

  The other thing :-) as I found out from a CE place..
if you sell it as a 'prototype' you can sell it WITHOUT CE approval,
providing you state somewhere in the documents you intend to have it CE
approved...

  SO you could sell a product in limited quantities to see how it goes
before forking out for CE approval..

  Chris, BTW, I found somewhere quite cheap to get CE approval done, about
800UKP...
