>I was a member of the Sumpter Valley Railroad for a while. I have great
photos from there too.

I volenteer up at Mt.Rainier scenic railroad in Washington state myself,
a backwoods sort of deal.

>I will build a web site and post the photos.

Love to see them!!

>How do you get permission to use the right of way?

Money! and good PR. Mostly small railroads which could use the
cash(100usd or so per day per car) let us on. Some consider it good PR
also.

We must continually convince them of our safety record and dedication to
putting safty first.

>Where are the motorcars available?

Around. Railroad auctions, scrapyards, people with conections. Most seem
to come down from Canada these days, mostly Canadian National.

>Is this a club?

http://www.narcoa.org/
is the national club

>Fill me in.

Let me know if you want to know more. In the "old days" 1990 or so, it
was a very DIY kind of thing. But people with more money and less know
how have gotten into it and have driven the price way up and the fun
level down.

BTW I solved the interference problem with some better shielded wire to
the sensor and ferrite beads on the sensor wire and power supply wires!

all it needs is an on rail test... next week!
