[sdiy] my mc202 eats batteries...

Synth DiY WebPages:-Hi,

I'd start at the power supply and determine whether the fault is within that
section, or one of the circuits that loads it.

It's possible that the DC to DC converter (power supply) may be maintaining
the correct output voltages but perhaps it's become inefficient somehow, and
excessive power is being dissipated in there somewhere? Check the
semiconductors within the power supply - particuarly the larger power
devices.

If not that, then excessive current is being drawn off one or more output
voltage lines. Check for correct voltage on each one: 12V, -9V, -5.3V and
whatever else is in there. Measure the current on each one.

Unless the MC202 really is bad on batteries (though I doubt that)! I never
did run my 202 off batteries, so I wouldn't really know.

Hi all,
just finished repairing an mc202 ( vcf res slider replacement
amongst other things).
Anyway works fine on external power. When i tried with batteries..its fine
for like 1/2 hour continuous play ..then the battery low indicator starts
blinking. To those MC202 users out there.. what kind of battery performance
do you find.?
1/2 hour seems a bit lame to me. Looks like I havent quite finished my
repairs...!
cheers
