The ENIAC computer (first electronic) was designed to calculate artillery 
trajectories, and was used at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. It was 
full of flip flops and decade counters, so you could probably get some 
interesting sounds out of it :). (That tube sound, too!).

On random number generation, I can't help but think that some methods 
probably have roots in gambling?
