Hi list,
Does anyone actually use pin 4 on the Roland DIN sync24 interface? On some machines such as the MC202 it's used as a Continue trigger. On the TR808, it's used to send a Reset to Start signal. On my TB303, it's a Tap input. I suppose it's usually used as a Continue input, but I don't know.
The reason I ask is because I'm including a Sync24 output from the MIDI section on my TR909 clone PCBs, and I'm
wondering if I should bother implementing a Continue output together with the usual Start/Stop and Tempo. Would it be missed if it wasn't there? Otherwise I could use that spare cpu I/O line for something else.
If you use a MIDI to Sync interface, what does it actually output on Pin 4? Seems to me that it's probably best not to bother with it at all, since different machines implement it in different ways.
Thanks all
Trev
