Don't forget that a contra-bass clarinet is $12,000 and orchestral grade
flutes can go to $6000. Master grade shakuhachis sell for $12,000.
Electronic instruments are, by comparison, something of a bargin. Of course
professional symphony players just finance their instruments as part of
their careers. It's harder for us when we never get paid to play, huh!
It is also interesting how people routinely pay $3000 for a Snowmobile or
Jet Ski, which is only gets used a few days a year, but freak over the cost
of musical instruments that may be played far more often and in every
season.
