You're looking at it from the point of view of a diy-synthesist, I think.
Imagine being someone who could never build the thing on their own for the
life of them, who value bob moog's return to the field of synthesizers,
and who view the signature as something with high personal and cultural
importance. Of course, it _is_ in large part marketting....
