The EDP synths used a simple parallel interface, with four bits for the
note in the octave (there's some redundancy here), two bits for the
octave and one pin for carrying the gate.  The connectors used were
7 pin DIN.

As all the pins are used for signal, the ground/screen was carried
on the shell of the connector, so you should wire that through too.
I'm fairly sure the cable was wired pin for pin, although it's fifteen
years since I made mine.  The DIN sockets served as both input
and output, with tristate buffers feeding the sockets.

It should be fairly easy to drive these things off a printer port too.
