[sdiy] a little more voltage please

i just finished my adaptation of grant richter's joysticks schems
(http://musicsynthesizer.com/Joystick/1209.htm) in an old computer
joystick.  it went well actually, and with some metering and fidgeting,
i got it to pretty close to how i want it.  but as i wanted to use this
at shows, my power supply is a 9v at the moment.  however, at the
maximum i get about 3.2 volts and i want more.  obviously, i'll never
get the 10v that grant gets out of the 1209, but i was at least hoping
for 5v.

my implementation involves removing the 1.5k but leaving the 3k as
spec'ed.  could i maybe slide a cap in there and get my 5v?  is there
another way?
