The Milwaukee Railroad used to terminate in Seattle. It was all electric
except when climbing Snoqualmie Pass. The pass was one of the steepest in
USA and required booster engines. I do not believe that they used
regenerative braking. It's a hiking-biking trail now, with long tunnel.
