This idea was arround in the 50's. I remeber a picture of a so called "gyro
bus". This was a bus with current "antennas" for the overhaed catenary
and an electrical motor. It also had a massive flywheel that could
be "charged" when going downhill or when breaking.
I think GM proposed another variant, low weight, but very fast rotation
for an turbo electric car design study. This vehicle could thus
save very tiny amounts of energy and was very efficient.
