True, but with the exception of the semiconductors resistors, caps, etc. the 
stuff tends to be rather low quality compared to what I'd get at the "real" 
electronics store about 10 miles away. Their consumer electronics section is 
pretty bad in comparison as well..

Depending on what it is, you may
 get the exact same part from Mouser or Digikey. Of course, you will pay a
 lot more for it at Radio Shack.

1/2 a buck for an LED...<shudders>
 
 Their prototyping boards are really handy.

Very true..I've used them a good bit and generally had decent results.
