[sdiy] Colored Buttons

This question applies to all Mono/poly and Polysix owners, and
may actually apply to Jupiter and Juno people as well, but I can't
say for sure.

On my Mono/poly, the HOLD button went bad, one of those push
buttons with the LED in the top of it. It had been acting up for
awhile, so I was sort of expecting it to die. I have a bunch of old
Polysix parts laying around, so I desoldered one of these push
buttons from a Polysix, desoldered the bad button from the Mono/poly,
and resoldered the new button in. It didn't work.

Here's the thing: The buttons consist of two parts. There's the top
frame/LED chassis that actually holds the button face and then there's
a separate little push-button switch underneath with four pins.

My question to you guys is: Are those things reversible? There is a
dot on the top of the four-pin part, seemingly to indicate some kind
of irreversibility, but on the Polysix PCB they seem to be arbitrarily
soldered on there pointing different directions. I chopped one in half
with big wire cutters, and it sure looked symmetrical inside, making
me think it didn't matter what direction it faced.

I'm wondering this because did I A) solder a bad button on, or B) do
I just have it the wrong direction?

Hope somebody out there has messed with these things...

Thanks,

Lava
