there's a good article on the positive and negative aspects of banana jacks 
at one of the M.E.M.E. websites - which are just interesting anyway, 
especially if you like Serge or Wiard synths.
Just make what you want, and buy the modules/synths you want and make cables 
with with different ends to connect your system together.
Personally, I like banana jacks best, but that is the influence of the 
fenix.
