[sdiy] AD600 / AD602

Just wondering if anyone has found a good use for these chips?
Kind of a "linear in dB" VCA
My first thought was an expo converter. Put in a fixed DC voltage 
instead of an AC signal and then a linear CV would result in a 
expo output. But it's not the right "expo" is it? 

AD600: 0 to 40 dB gain
AD602: -10 to +30 dB

Still, maybe a VCA or limiter...
Too bad the signal input is 100 ohms.
Power is +/- 5V.
