Some balanced mods will accept two inputs. The balanced mod available from
paia, the EPFM, has only one input, but uses a sort of a 'gimmick' with
the chip used. The real difference, I believe, is that ba;anced modulators
multiply in two quadrants, and ring modularotrs multiply in four
quadrants. What exactly this means in terms of music, I'm not
sure....maybe a ring mod wilo not output the original tones. IN any
event, for your purposes, I don't think that one would necesarily bbe any
better than the other. Try any simple VCA; should be fine.
