Here's a tutorial on breadboarding. One cool thing he does 
is use adhesive copper EMI tape as ground strips.

This is an AD633 ring mod breadboard I did.

One sided copper clad perfboard. Remove copper around each hole 
where a wirewrap pin goes. (Unless it's grounded.) Wired with 
buswire and teflon sleeving one size too big. 

GOOD: 
Good ground plane.

BAD: 
There can be tiny little hairs of copper that didn't get 
removed that will short pins to ground.
