[sdiy] Chaotic windows and analogue windchimes.

I am having trouble with getting a pulse signal from these 555 timer chips from
radio shack. I am not to sure about component handling but I was always under the
impression that they are pretty sturdy however I haven't been able to get any to
work in my projects. I am following all schematic outlines and procedures it seems
but still can't get any signal. What could I possibly be doing wrong. I f anyone
has any good schematics for Audio oscillators that are cheap and easy please let
me know.
