[sdiy] Digikey Parts Holding/Brokering?

Anyone else run into this problem with Digikey? If you look up simple
passives, esp smt, things like caps, etc, the smallest amount you can buy is
2000!!!

What the hell is going on? I thought that their operation catered to
engineering?

Are they just becoming parts brokers now? Buying huge stock in passives and
waiting for someone to need them so badly that they must buy huge amounts at
their massively inflated prices with nowhere else to go?

If so, its really annoying me.. I have been told too many times now that
"Yes, we have 14900 parts of that type, but, NO, you cannot have any unless
you buy 2000 at $400".

Bastards... They are holding up my boards being built.. Rotten bastards..

Good thing I have other sources...
