[sdiy] bunch of 1.5v solar panels

I bought a bunch of cheap calculators hoping to do the peasants "ring mod(?)" project...well the display was the wrong type so i was thinking that maybe I could do something with all the solar power panels (1.5v).  Maybe do some sort of a cv thing like you can with a photocell.  Also I was thinking that where I yanked off the display I could wire a jack to control the voltage with the calculator keys.  Just a thought.. any opinions?
