[sdiy] SMT?

1) pcb space
2) no drilling
3) smaller design
4) price (resistors can go for under a penny a piece , Leads add to price!)
5) less solder used
6) saves a step in bending/cutting leads
7) small parts require less storage
I would say to definitely do through hole for certain things, but for
resistors, caps, transistors, ie basic stuff, smt is superior.
Great stuff all around...
