Speaking for myself and some others, doubtless....

No us old farts can't SEE SMT shit !!! and we have a closet (garage,
basement)
full of through hole parts...

Most synth stuff is no problem for SMT.  In my case, you cannot solder
SMT
to vectorboard with T42 terminals... you have to commit early to printed
circuit
board...
