Not a total solution, but somethig that helped me a lot, was soldering 
a very sharp needle to the probe tip, so that instead of the probe tip
skidding eveywhere, it digs into whatever it is jabbed at.
You can even push straight thru the coating over PCB traces.
Yes, i *have* stabbed myself.. but, it was still worth it!
