Ok, I'm finally going to ask something that I've wondered about several
times in the past:

Why on earth would it matter where the recipient of the gear lives, as long
as they are willing to pay for any shipping charges, no matter how large
those charges might be?

I've seen offers like this on eBay and many other places. I never quite
understood the reasoning behind them. I realize that the item in question
is usually heavy and expensive to ship, but why would that matter to the
shipper, if they were getting paid enough to cover it?
