OEM effects modules?

I could swear a while back I looked at a page that had little effects 
modules you could embed in your own product. I'm thinking about a special
purpose synth that needs an effects unit. Aside from ripping apart guitar
pedals does anyone know of a source for these modules?

Or any really cheap echo/delay module which could be built in. I need around
10-20 of them.

Interestingly, I found an embedded ASCII to speech module for $145. Can hang
on a printer port, serial port or uP buss, kinda cool.
