DIY Digital Synth

I was looking at the Chebychev(?) lookup table thingies in the Chamberlin book.
It seemed to me one could make a kickin distortion box using this method. I'm
envisioning a delta-sigma AD/DA pair with a FPGA in the middle. There would be a
EPROM for the lookup tables also connected to the FPGA. Then a simple switch
selects which lookup table is being used. 

Gosh darn I wish I had more time to play!!!!
