Actually an exclusive-or gate is what you want here, driven
from square waves...

If MY synths don't do this trick when I get them, they get modified until
they do !!!

Not Funny ! I was thinking the same thing. A thin walnut veneer strip
in the rack rail area, with holes to clear the mounting screws. Mini's would
not be the same without that "woody" sound.
