The S-50 (it's a sampler) uses straightforward 12-bit encoded samples at
30 kHz sampling rate, at least in the MIDI (Sysex) transmission and on
its floppy disks. There are some utilities out there to convert from/to
WAV etc., on the Mac there's DSoundPro for instance.
