Perhaps they used a guitorgan? Seriously, such an instrument actually
exists. For those that haven't seen one, it is part electric guitar and
part Hammond organ. It's possible to play either normal guitar notes, organ
notes, or a mixture of the two, from guitar's the fretboard. I believe the
company that built them was located in Texas.
Has anyone else seen one?
