sampler module

[skinny bastard]

Has anyone out there ever built a small synth module that can function as a 
sampler (capable of storing maybe one sound)? Perhaps a module that can use 
digital design to store a sound (from an input jack), and play that sound 
every time it recieves a trigger signal from an analog sequencer (or 
whatever). I can already think of several ways that I would want to set this 
up, but wanted to know if anyone had a preexisting design.
