  Oh yes, a bunch of things could be done to it.  I just wanted something
I could shoehorn into a Prophet-5 using a tiny little daughterboard a few
years back, thus the code.  Things like gating the noise on/off and
changing the shift rate are pretty trivial, although I do want to keep the
'taps' loop time small.
