I am thinking about trying to build this sequencer as my first variboard
project, but I don't know the first thing about how to lay it out. can
anyone give some suggestions? you guys with the circuit mapper programs
maybe? any tips appreciated.
-------- end -----------
I have recently done three projects on proto-type board. What I found
helpful was to make a larger size, paper mock-up of the board and start
laying out part of my circuit by hand with a pen/pencil. I found that after
just a few tries, I get that magic combination of space and jumpers.
You can check out one of my protoboard layouts (both the paper and photos of
the actual circuit board with jumpers) by visiting my site:

Check out the 822 voltage shifter. There is a copy of the paper protoboard
layout I did my work from and a series of photos showing the construction
stage. The second photo shows the installation of the "top" of board bare
jumpers that complete 95% of the connections.
I know it is a very basic circuit for all the sharp DIY'ers on this list.
I'm just a newbie at this. But, I think it is a good example of a
successful proto board layout. Of course, any constructive criticism is
MOST welcome.

P.S. If you have a basic, simple sequencer schematic you like, I might like
to see it and play with it myself.
