I'd say (mostly) yes.
The positive supply is not as good for shielding as ground... but it should
work if you do not need the greatest shielding in the world...
BUT make sure that the shiled cannot contact REAL ground or you are in
trouble.
I'm using 6 conductor XLR for guitar synth... the shell is the common
(ground).
I'm VERY SORRY I chose this... the shell is not a reliable enough connection
as the cable moves (snap crakle) and now I've ordered SEVERAL HUNDRED
DOLLAR$ worth of 7 pin XLR... available ONLY from Switchcraft...
Thats the best way... the holes are already cut in the guitars ....
