Wow - I've been away from the list for several months and I come back to
see that.  That's gotta be one of the coolest things I've ever seen!  Is
it a synth?  It looks like it's DIY so I think it's on topic to tell us
more.

Whatever it is, I think more gear should be so interesting looking.
