maybe the video i watched (http://wezl.org/rhead/media/video/ -- .rm's
download, .ram's stream) was dodgy, but i didn't see any string -- it
looks like a conductive finger covering, a sort of thimble, that's worn
in order to 'play' the lowered surface just in front of the keyboard you
see (it's easy to see around the 3:05 mark when jonny leaves it on the
surface and picks up something else from the floor -- a shortwave?)
i've seen things like this before, but it's usually a metal-tipped
stylus, with a cord attached. by the way, that thing was in the first
song they played, 'the national anthem.' the second song, 'idioteque,'
features jonny playing the big wooden-cabinet modular stage right (heard
prominently 2:40-3:05), with spaghetti all over the front panel.
