making you own knobs

My thoughts on DIY knobs. I never tried it, just did a lot of planning. I
did however make numerous model parts using the following method.

Cast them using an RTV rubber mold, using casting resin or automotive body
filler. The mold should be made in such a way that the RTV is constricted in
an outer shell of wood or plastic to reduce distortion.
If the knobs are to be fixed using screws, make sure you cast a piece of
thick wall 1/4inch ID brass tube into the knob, then drill out and tap the
hole for the grub srcew when you are done.
