Repairing Tube Equipment

Mike Firman recently gave me an EICO Audio Signal Generator. This is a tube
sine / square oscillator. It has this really great red, white and blue
enamel face plate , which just radiates American pride, so I want fix it up.
It has the light bulb amplitude stabilization like a Hewlet-Packard.

The first thing I did was replace all the capacitors. 400 volt caps are
relatively easy to find. That partially fixed it but I think I need to
replace the tubes. Oscillation dies out at lower frequencies, seeming like a
lack of gain.

The price of tubes is incredible!

Here's what I was quoted by Industrial Electronics.

6K6GT - $26.50 ea (I need two)
6SN7 - $12.30
6SJ7 - $8.60
6X5GT - $14.40

Ouch, anybody know a cheaper place to get tubes?

Thanks
