When I did it a few years ago, I simply took an Exacto knife and
PATIENTLY cut away at the white epoxy in small chunks/slices. You'll
eventually be able to free the battery loose....
I higly recommend the following upgrade/modification. Instead of
replacing
the battery back on the circuit board, I installed a D-Cell battery
holder. There is ample room to mount the holder on the far right hand
side
of the chassis, behind the keyboard and in front of the voice cards.
Once you've got this secured with a couple of small nuts & bolts, solder
a black & red wire to the holder and run it back to the two solder pads
where the old battery was once connected (paying attention to polarity)
Install and tie wrap the battery into the holder and Voila!!!! you can
now easily replace the battery when it dies in another ten years or
so....
OH! Make sure you use a lithium D-Cell battery with the same or higher
amp/hour rating....
Cheers,
