Yes.

There is clearly much less "invention" going on than we might
think. The biggest part of creating new circuits is work on
details, whether we start with component manufacturers' applications
or with cloning vintage synths.
Exceptions notwithstanding, app notes are often "good ideas"
beconing for improovements to make them part of a good musical
tool.
Cloning vintage synths (or other people's designs) is all too often
done with neglect of  details that seem unimportant at first glance,
sometimes a good reproduction is accomplished, and in some rare
cases a detail is found that even improoves the original.
All this is highly subjective, of course, and one man's improovement
can be another one's flaw that ruins the original.
